Overview
Ecuador arrive at the 2026 World Cup as one of CONMEBOL's most exciting young projects. After a strong qualifying campaign built on a granite defence and a midfield brimming with Premier League pedigree, La Tri have rebuilt around a generation that came through the celebrated Independiente del Valle academy.
Despite a points deduction shadowing recent campaigns, the team's on-pitch form has been impressive, conceding sparingly and frustrating bigger names. Sebastián Beccacece's side blend defensive solidity with quick transitions, and there is genuine belief they can advance beyond the group.
With captain Enner Valencia still leading the line and a cluster of stars in their early twenties, Ecuador's ambition is to match or exceed their best-ever showings.
